Professional Services Adoption of VoIP, IP VPN, and Converged Solutions

Businesses are increasingly well aware of the wide array of IP voice solutions available to meet their business needs. This has resulted in strong adoption among US business overall (33%), with lower than average adoption among the Professional Services market segment. This segment also lags the national average in adoption of IP VPN. To date, the Professional Services market segment has been converging voice, data, and video capabilities in a similar fashion as the rest of the US business market, but the drivers of these adoption decisions do not seem as strongly formulated as in the case of other industries, creating opportunity for service providers to help shape industry-specific applications.
Other IT spending priorities of this segment that have mitigated IP and convergence adoption are discussed in this analysis.
We believe that in the long-term, efforts to improve communication with clients and collaboration partners will drive increasing levels of investment in IP-based services, including multiple VoIP solutions, such as IP PBXs, IP VPN, and converged solutions at the mid-sized business and enterprise level, along with managed VoIP solutions for the small business customers.
