2007 Defense Appropriations Bill
INPUT, May 2006, Pages: 8
The President’s budget requests $439.3 billion in discretionary budget authority for the Department of Defense, a 7 percent increase over enacted fiscal year 2006 funding levels. The budget was accompanied by the Report of the 2006 Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR). The 2006 QDR identifies US military strategic priorities for added investment as far as two decades into the future, and the FY 2007 budget initiates the process of funding those priorities. As a component of DoD transformation, this QDR seeks to provide a broader range of military options for the President and new capabilities needed by the Combatant Commanders to confront asymmetric threats. Conducted every four years since 1997, this is the first QDR developed during wartime.
