Singapore will remain a large net importer of crude oil due to the country's large downstream sector, which is the largest in South East Asia. While the country will retain its refining hub status in the region, it will face increasing competition from refiners in emerging markets such as China and India. The maritime sector will continue to account for the largest source of domestic oil demand over the next decade.

Latest Updates and Key Forecasts
- Singapore is planning to set up a Secondary Gas Trading Market (SGTM) in the country, according to October 2015 reports by the Minister for Trade and Industry S. Iswaran. The SGTM will allow gas purchasers and sellers to trade gas locally on a short-term basis, yielding several possible benefits.

- With no domestic oil or gas reserves, we expect Singapore to maintain its modest levels oil supplies, most of which originate from refinery processing gains. We forecast total oil supply to remain at about 20,500b/d across our review period.
