The number of dwellings completed decreased by 19.1% y/y to 18,800 in Q1-Q3, the latest data from the Central Statistical Office (CSO) revealed. The decline was matched by corresponding dynamics in the number of dwelling construction permits issued in Jan-Sep, which declined by 18.6% y/y to 31,232. The dynamics of both indicators was above all paced by the developments in Budapest, where the dwellings declined by 34.6% y/y, while the permits went down by 35.5% y/y. Looking at the breakdown, the number of construction permits issued for residential buildings decreased by 4.2% y/y in Q1- Q3, but the scope of the activities was much smaller as the useful floor area declined by much steeper 13.6% y/y.
