Mozambique's construction sector will experience moderate but stable growth throughout the 10-year forecast period to 2025, buoyed by developments in coal export infrastructure, the addition of hydropower plants to the electricity mix and the burgeoning gas sector. As depressed commodity prices weigh on industry expansion, the government will continue its efforts to attract further foreign investment to fund key projects.

Forecast & Industry Developments

- Mozambique's construction industry will expand throughout the full forecast period to 2025, recording 4.9% real growth in 2016, averaging 5.9% over the next five years and 6.3% over 10 years.

- Coal export infrastructure and the addition of hydropower to the ailing power supply will be the main drivers of growth over the first half of the forecast period. The nascent gas sector is expected to impact industry growth from 2020, currently weighed down by low commodity prices.
