Baltic Independence and Russian Foreign Energy Policy

Increasingly dependent on Russian gas imports and with negligible sources of domestic energy supply, the Baltic countries have been the target of aggressive Russian commercial activity and a sustained attempt to lock them into a long-term reliance on Russia. Now, as Baltic political leaders, energy specialists and intelligence analysts consider their options, the implications for the security and independence of the three EU member states are a matter of concern well beyond the Baltic. This series of reports establishes for the first time the confluence of Russian foreign policy with the acquisition of foreign energy assets by Russian entities.
