Asia Pacific Market Perspective, v5 i16
Pyramid Research, Inc., Dec 2005, Pages: 12
MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS Highlights from Asia-Pacific Mobile Forecasts 4Q2005 In this final issue, the Asia Pacific team illustrates three main points from Asia- Pacific Mobile Forecasts. Subscription growth will come from the usual suspects, such as China and India. However, Vietnam, Pakistan, and Indonesia will register double-digit 5-year CAGR of more than 20 percent. Low ARPS countries require innovative marketing strategies to encourage usage. Operators in the Philippines remain on the forefront for successful case studies. In developed markets, consolidation is definitely in the cards in Hong Kong and Taiwan (where churn rates are significantly higher than average for mature markets). Winners in such a consolidation trend are those who have multiple services, which extract more revenue from existing customers.
Asia Pacific Mobile Data Series Part IV In this final installment of a series that explored Asia’s thriving mobile data markets, including Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, Australia, and New Zealand, analysts Jane Buenaventura and Yiru Zhong provide perspectives highlighting mobile applications driving revenue growth in Singapore, Taiwan, and Malaysia. Branding is important, particularly in crowded and saturated markets such as Singapore and Taiwan. Malaysia stands out in Asia by being the first developing market to deploy 3G services. By virtue of a prepaid majority in the market, Malaysia will market 3G services for mass appeal.
