VoIP Showing Signs of Stability, Building a Base for

Growth in 2001

With port shipments and prices stabilizing, the second

quarter of 2001 saw the VoIP equipment markets recover
from a weak first quarter. Though the industry is still
cautious, it is expected that the second half of the year
will experience double-digit growth. With IP broadband

and wireless IP markets poised to strongly impact the

industry and major legacy carriers providing significant
support for VoIP equipment utilization, this success should
continue into 2002.

Though their potential has yet to be fully recognized,

enhanced services continue to act as important market
drivers. However, capital market weakness has forced the

postponement or reduction of some large-scale
