  • Infant Nutrition
  • Enteral Nutrition
  • Parenteral Nutrition
World Market for Clinical Nutrition Products covers the global market, at the manufacturers’ level. Expanding product lines in global markets, an aging population, increasing incidence of disease, a steady infant birth rate, recovering market conditions and several other factors are driving the market. Sales for infant formulas have increased moderately in global markets, with significant annual increases in many Eastern European, Asian, and Middle Eastern regions. Additionally, an aging population and increased awareness of the relationship between health and nutrition are factors driving sales for both enteral and parenteral formulas in most regions worldwide.

Enteral nutrition refers to a form of nutrition that is delivered into the digestive system as a liquid. Drinking nutrition beverages or formulas and tube feeding are forms of enteral nutrition. Over the years, enteral nutrition has improved with regard to techniques, materials and composition, and has gained popularity because of its lower cost and lower rate of complications compared with parenteral nutrition.

The report provides the following global enteral nutrition formula market data:
  • Global Distribution of Enteral Nutrition Formula Sales by Segment – Adult vs. Pediatric Formulas, 2016 (%)
  • Global Enteral Nutrition Formula Market, 2010-2022

Parenteral nutrition refers to the ingesting of nutrients through means other than the alimentary canal. This is accomplished through infusion of intravenous solutions that are used to supply electrolytes, nutrients and water. Parenteral feedings are used in the treatment of patients unable to eat, digest, or absorb nutrients through the gastrointestinal tract. Parenteral nutrition is the least favored choice because of the higher cost and the higher complication rate. Parenteral feedings are reserved for those patients that for some reason cannot tolerate either of the other two methods of feeding.

The report provides the following global parenteral nutrition formula market information:
  • Global Parenteral Nutrition Formula Market, 2010-2022
  • Global Parenteral Nutrition Formula Market, 2010-2022 (Amino Acid, Dextrose, Fats, Additives, Total)

Topics covered in the report include wound care applications, parenteral nutrition shortages, consolidation in China, the breast milk debate, and many others.

Competition in the clinical nutrition market is dominated by a handful of companies, ranging from global nutritional manufacturers to leading pharmaceutical companies. The majority of competitive participation is in developed regions such as the United States, Western Europe, and Japan. However, many companies are expanding into less developed regions, intensifying competition in minimally tapped markets.
