New Report Released: – Global Data Center Construction Market 2017-2021

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global data center construction market: AECOM, Arup Group, Corgan, D Construction, Gensler, HDR, Page Southerland Page, Holder Construction Group, Jones Engineering Group, Structure Tone, Syska Hennessy, and Turner Construction.

Other prominent Vendors in the market are: Baselayer Technology, Balfour Beatty, Beca, Cannon Technologies, Clune Construction, Commodore Contracting, Constructora Sudamericana, Drake & Scull International, Fluor, Gilbane, Integrated Design Group, Jacobs Engineering, JE Dunn Construction, Kirby Group, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, M+W Group, McGough, Mercury Engineering, Merrick, Mortenson Construction, Nova Mission Critical, PTS, Skanska, and Whiting-Turner.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “One trend in the market is increase in purchase of renewable sources of energy. The escalating consumption of electricity by data centers worldwide is creating a thrust toward green data centers that are powered by renewable sources of energy. Advanced designs and strategies are implemented in data centers to enhance its operational performance. Use of renewable energy sources, energy-efficient infrastructure, and waste recycling are some of the methods implemented in green data centers. Most of the mega data centers are being powered by renewable resources such as wind energy and solar panels. Google is planning to power all its data center operations using renewable sources of energy by 2017. Microsoft has purchased more than 500 MW of renewable power in the US in 2016.”

According to the report, one driver in the market is data center tax incentives and reduction in electricity cost. Tax incentives play a vital role in the establishment of data centers worldwide. When an enterise chooses a location for setting up a facility, it considers factors such as availability of power, connectivity, and tax incentives offered by the local government. If an enterise can create jobs for the native population by establishing a data center, it can earn more tax incentives. Almost all states in the US offer tax incentives to organizations that are establishing data center facilities. This trend can be witnessed worldwide in a majority of countries.

Further, the report states that one challenge in the market is consolidation of data centers. There are many reasons for Enterpises to consolidate data center objects, but the reduction of cost is the primary motivation. Consolidation helps in saving costs up to 30%, enhance security up to 35%, imoves efficiency by 50% and reduction in power consumption by 55%. In 2015, the federal government of the US saved close to $3 billion by the consolidation of data centers. The US Federal agencies plan to save around $8 billion via consolidation that will lead to the closing down of around 5,000 data centers across the country by 2019. Many Enterpises are consolidating their existing facilities; they are moving their IT operations to colocation data centers and adopting of cloud-based services. Increased OPEX due to higher power consumption and carbon emission will lead to more consolidation during the forecast period.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
