The mobile wholesale market is an immature market, where mobile network operators are already generating profit and will be able to improve profitability as they take advantage of new opportunities.
The wholesale mobile market has a reputation for generating little profit for mobile operators (MNOs). However, in our analysis of the how MNOs view this market we found that MNOs now agree that wholesaling mobile services does not threaten their retail business. Instead, they accept that it increases traffic market share and enables them to reach market segments that their existing retail operations could not otherwise reach. Furthermore, MNOs have realised that if they do not take advantage of the market for wholesale services, their competitors will.
