As important equipment widely applied to the fields of national defense, aviation, transportation, construction, metallurgy, building material and mine, etc, the decelerator is a driving device which can help to slow down the speed and enlarge the torque between prime mover and working machine. Decelerator has many varieties so as to satisfy the demands of different machines. This report emphasizes particularly on the industry-oriented decelerator (including general-purpose decelerator and special decelerator) instead of vehicle decelerator.
The Chinese decelerator manufacturers are mainly concentrated in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Tianjin, Shanghai and Shandong, and most focus on cycloidal decelerator production. In the 1950s, the enterprises which specialized in manufacturing of reduction & transmission machine appeared in China but the actual start-up began in the 1960s.
Along with the rapid growth of the industries of heavy machinery and construction machinery, China decelerator industry witnessed rapid development with a growth rate of 21.9% in the first half of 2006. Meanwhile, many global decelerator manufacturing giants have quickened the step to Chinese market, which leads to upgrade of the technology level as well as rampant competition.
The decelerator products tend to develop towards miniaturization, high speed, low noise and high reliability, particularly, the technical progress in hard gear surface, power distribution and modularized design are most noticeable. Apart from seeking high performance of general-purpose/standard decelerator and meeting the diversified demands of clients, the modularized design technology is also advantageous in reducing the variety & specification of components and roughcasts as possible as it could, so that the components can be mass produced and then scale benefit can be achieved at a lower cost.
China's domestic decelerator manufacturers are still hampered by small scale and low competitiveness, which is featured here that the production value, output, profit and efficiency are all in low level; most of the enterprises orient at simply maintaining their production instead of carrying out product development; and the products and techniques are indistinctive. Therefore, the enterprises are supposed to formulate the development strategy after studying the orientation in market as well as the product and then to grow to be the development-oriented enterprises, no matter how large their scales are.
