East Asian and Taiwanese LCD monitor quarterly shipment volume forecast up to the fourth quarter of 2004. Special discussion on future impact of rising prices and ways in which panel shortage will test competitiveness. Third quarter 2003 review of East Asian LCD monitor volume, value, ASP, market share, shipments by maker origin, rankings, industry concentration, product mix, product mix by tier. Third quarter 2003 review of Taiwanese volume, value, ASP, and volume by tier, business types, product mix, product mix by tier, shipment destinations, and production locations. Competitive profiles of Korean, Taiwanese, and Japanese players.
As CDT replacement continues unabated, East Asian LCD monitor makers continue to reach new heights in shipment volume. However, with breakneck growth in panel application demand as well as larger sized applications, demand is outstripping supply, creating persistent panel shortages that pinched the East Asian LCD monitor industry's third quarter shipment performance. Looking ahead to the peak retail season in the fourth quarter, demand will remain strong for LCD monitor and notebook PCs applications. Additionally, larger size models continue to be rolled out, and fifth generation production capacity has not totally come online. The panel shortage will hence persist, affecting the East Asian LCD monitor industry shipment volume.
