The International Legalization Handbook deals with the increasingly common problem of how to have official and private documents authenticated for use in other countries. This perennial need has been fuelled in recent years by an increase in the number of independent states in eastern Europe, and by the growth in international business.

The International Legalization Handbook provides a new understanding of the problems of international legalization, along with the original text of the 1961 Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents. While the Convention simplified the procedures applying to those countries which are signatories, a number of important countries have not yet acceded to it. For this reason, The International Legalization Handbook clearly sets out, in an alphabetical country-by country guide, the procedures to be followed when dealing with both signatories and non-signatories to The Convention. An appendix to the book lists the countries and jurisdictions that are parties to The Convention.

Written in language readily understood by experts and laymen alike The International Legalization Handbook provides the solutions to such problems as those faced by UK businessmen wanting to know how to submit an agreement in a legally acceptable form for use in China, or American lawyers wanting to have documents legalised for use in the countries of the former Soviet Union.

The International Legalization Handbook is an indispensable guide for law firms, banks, universities, embassies, consulates and international businesses.
