Dedicated Hosting: Dedicated Hosting solutions involve a server, usually a Web server, which is located at a dedicated facility designed with resources, which include a secured cage or cabinet, regulated power, dedicated Internet connection, security, and support features. These facilities offer the customers a secure place to physically host their applications and corporate processes as opposed to locating them in their offices or warehouses where the potential for fire, theft or vandalism is much greater.

Housing/ Co-location: This is also referred to as server cluster, computer farm, or ranch. A server farm is a group of networked servers that are housed in one location. It streamlines internal processes by distributing the workload between the individual components of the farm and expedites computing processes by harnessing the power of multiple servers.

Economic Revival Bolstering Market Growth

The Argentinean IT infrastructure outsourcing services markets are witnessing renewed growth, mainly due to the stable national economy and improving awareness about the advantages IT infrastructure outsourcing services. In line with these trends, providers have reported a constant increase in the number of outsourcing contracts closed, leading to an overall market growth rate of 23.8 percent in 2007. Another actor that is likely to drive the market in the short term is the fact that many Argentinean companies are in the process of renewing their investment in IT equipment. This, in turn, is likely to create new opportunities for IT infrastructure outsourcing service providers to increase their market footprint.

However, pricing remains a major challenger for IT infrastructure outsourcing service providers, as Argentinean companies remain highly price conscious. This, in turn is hindering large full outsourcing contracts. "International IT infrastructure outsourcing providers base their selling strategy on end-to-end outsourcing contracts and are by and large perceived as high priced service providers," notes the analyst of this research service. "The concept of integrating business process, IT infrastructure, and applications has been leveraged mainly by the international providers, trying to demonstrate cost and production effectiveness advantages gained in outsourcing all of them."

Disaster Recovery Sector likely to Experience High Growth Rates

Among the market sectors, disaster recovery and business continuity services are likely to see the maximum growth. In 2006, the disaster recovery market generated a total of $19.57 million, representing 15.9 percent of the total IT infrastructure outsourcing services revenues. Much of this growth was a result of global regulations such as Sarbanes Oxley and Basel II in the banking sector. The banking and financing vertical is undoubtedly the one that is likely to demand most of the disaster recovery and business continuity services. By the end of the forecast period, the disaster recovery service could grow to represent 18.4 percent of the revenue by type of service.

With regard to vertical markets, the telecom vertical is the most significant revenue generator in the Argentinean IT infrastructure outsourcing services markets. This vertical was one of the first to adopt infrastructure outsourcing services, mainly with co-location services, and is expected to move toward more advanced services and solutions in the short term. "Likewise, the finance and banking vertical is also likely to draw focus from IT infrastructure service providers in the short term," says the analyst. "The vertical is becoming more aware of new offerings in the market and is also breaking old paradigms regarding security and hiring of a third-party provider to manage internal confidential information."
