In recent years, Ukraine's mineral fertiliser market has tended to decline in production and export volumes, while imports have shown mixed trends for the years under study.
Currently, the nitrogen fertiliser market of the Group has a 34% deficit, which was caused by a number of factors. As Ukraine's market is heavily dependent on imports of phosphate concentrate and natural gas, the sharp drop in demand has reduced mineral fertiliser production.
In general, the mineral fertiliser market has not experienced significant changes over the past few years and production continues to decline.
The unstable situation in the country has led to a reduction in space and lower demand for fertilisers. Farmers started to refuse soil prevention and use less imported fertilisers. There is a reorientation from expensive mineral fertilisers to cheaper analogues or animal and organic fertilisers. Among mineral fertilisers, combined and nitrogen fertilisers are the most popular group.
A recovery in the fertiliser market will only take place if the economic situation in Ukraine stabilises, but a full recovery is possible only if large market operators return to the territory under their control or construction of new major production facilities, which will require significant investment. In addition, the introduction of advanced technologies will be an important driving force in the future.
