The 2004 Energy Transaction Software Report shows signs of promise in the wholesale energy merchant markets. A key barometer for measuring the energy technology turn-around is in the ebb and flow of software vendor employee head count. Over the last 12 months, all of the vendors surveyed have either maintained the same size staff or have added to it. The vendors are split roughly in half, with 46% staying the same size and 54% reporting employee additions. Of those who have added staff, the growth rate has averaged a whopping 19%. None of the vendors reported a reduction in head count.
