This Frost & Sullivan research titled European Coagulation Diagnostics Market provides a complete analysis of key market drivers, restraints and trends in the market. It provides strategic solutions to help vendors gain an advantage in the market. The research service also discusses coagulation diagnostics options that are available with respect to laboratory and POC testing.

Technologies
The following technologies are covered in this research:

-Activated clotting time test (ACT)
-Activated partial thromboplastin time test (APTT)
-Prothrombin time test
-Anti-thrombin test
-Partial thromboplastin time (aPTT)
-Clot retraction tests

Market Sectors
Expert Frost & Sullivan analysts thoroughly examine the following market sectors in this research:

-Laboratory-based testing (involves biochemical and clinical chemistry studies)
-Point-of-care testing (concentrates on blood clotting factor and prothrombin time INR)

Market Overview
Availability of Coagulation Testing Labs at Point of Sales Makes Technician Training Imperative

Manufacturers of coagulation diagnostic devices have introduced point-of-sales (POS) testing labs to ensure quick turn-around-times (TAT) and better patient care. These kits are catching on rapidly in the market, with even laboratories switching over to high-volume automated analysers to maintain patient satisfaction. This decentralizing of coagulation laboratories has compelled vendors and manufacturers to provide instrument training to the lab technicians by offering regional translations of the instrument manuals. Technicians using these products should be skilled in sample handling, collection and patient preparation. Meanwhile, market participants could provide in-house training for people using home testing devices.

'With the increase in the number of patients under anticoagulant therapy, it is vital to closely monitor the prothrombin time (PT) and the International Standardized Ratio,' says the analyst of this research service. 'This can be achieved by installing point of care (POC) instruments in emergency units, outpatient wards and in-patient homes for self testing.' This will ease the burden on hospitals, physician offices and laboratories that lack qualified lab personnel, thereby lessening the effects of anticoagulants and other bleeding disorders.

Manufacturers to Standardise the Features of Analysers to Obtain Correlated Results from Laboratories and POC Testing Labs

Market participants will be challenged to ensure correlation of results between centralised coagulation laboratories and the POC testing labs because of the difference in the reagents and test kits and other physiological factors such as temperature and humidity. They can gradually solve this issue by employing international standardised reagents. 'Manufacturers of next-generation technologies in coagulation diagnostics are striving to achieve international standards and optimise their instruments,' notes the analyst. 'Manufacturers and laboratory personnel should collaborate to standardize all relevant features in an analyzer to build a commercially successful coagulation instrument.'

POC tests should undergo proper quality control protocols with elaborate instrument calibration and trouble shooting. An ideal coagulation analyser has to be portable and easy to use, employ small volumes of blood and standardized reagents, produce rapid results, perform all coagulation tests and incur low operational costs.
