The Market for Converged Voice Services in Europe
In-Stat/MDR, Sep 2007, Pages: 45
European telecom markets are extremely competitive. Service providers are seeking ways to differentiate their services, minimize the loss of fixed-line subscribers, and increase mobile revenue. Converged voice service (CVS) integrates fixed-line VoIP and mobile telephony into a single, next-generation voice service. All the necessary technology is commercially available today. Best of all, our surveys found that European broadband consumer households overwhelmingly favour CVS over any other type of voice telephony service. Based on our primary research studies, this report quantifies the market for CVS in Europe. It shows how incumbent operators can use converged voice services to eliminate losses of fixed-line subscribers. The report also examines how mobile operators can use CVS to migrate pre-paid subscribers to post-paid calling plans, increase ARPU, and capture new fixed-line revenue streams.
For service providers worldwide, as well as equipment vendors, the report identifies the killer application that can justify NGN investments and usher in a new era of voice communication. Even for those network operators for whom the status quo is quite suitable, this research report is a must-read. Consumer demand for CVS is so strong that many competitors will undoubtedly use it to their advantage. Don't be caught off guard. The future of telephony is converged voice services.
