World Markets for Textile Machinery: Part 1 - Yarn Manufacture, 2007 Edition
Textiles Intelligence, Oct 2007, Pages: 35
2006 was a mixed year for the international textile machinery market—following below average performances in 2004 and 2005. Growth was witnessed in shipments of short staple spindles; long staple spindles and single heater false twist draw texturing machinery. But falls were recorded in deliveries of open-end rotors and double heater false twist draw texturing machinery.
In the spinning sector, purchases of short staple spindles continued to rise—for the fourth consecutive year. Furthermore, growth accelerated to 18.3%. Deliveries of long staple spindles rose for the first time in five years, but growth was limited to single digits. Sales of open-end rotors, meanwhile, fell by 5.9%, following a drop of 9.9% in 2005.
Deliveries of draw texturing machinery fell by 27% in 2006, following a decline of 22% a year earlier. The fall in 2006 was due entirely to a 29% drop in double heater spindles, which followed a decline of 21% a year earlier. Meanwhile, shipments of single heater spindles rose by 50%, thereby partially reversing a 48% drop in 2005. Growth in all sectors was dictated by deliveries to Chinese mills. In the case of long staple spindles and single heater spindles, the increase in the number shipped to Chinese mills alone was greater than the increase in global shipment numbers. Conversely, the decline in shipments of open-end rotors and double heater spindles to Chinese mills exceeded the entire decline in global deliveries. In the case of short staple spindles, growth was recorded for global shipments including China and for global shipments excluding China.
