CMDB adopters worldwide are struggling to get their arms around best practices and metrics relevant to asses CMDB System success. This Advisory Note introduces some new research on 'Winning Strategies in CMDB Adoption' and a new program for global adopters to share insights on what’s working and what’s not.

EMA is in the midst of its next leg of research—this time targeted at 'Winning Strategies in CMDB Adoption.' The research should be completed by the end of April, but after more than 13 focal interviews and initial data results, it’s already easy to assess some of the critical trends. Moreover, EMA’s IT consulting engagements continue to help our clients in planning, deploying and assessing where they are and where they need to be in CMDB deployments.

One thing stands out above all: most people directly involved with CMDB deployments feel a strong need to learn from third-parties such as EMA and from each other just how their efforts and directions fit in with the bigger picture. And with that EMA is planning to launch a CMDB Community in Q2 of 2007.

However, not to keep you in suspense, this Advisory Note touches on seven of the more prominent areas where CMDB planners are most apt to ask questions and seek 'big picture' context.
