Advisory Note: Simplifying Change and Configuration Management
Enterprise Management Associates, Oct 2007, Pages: 3
The key to maintaining quality systems management over an enterprise IT infrastructure is establishing control over each individual component to ensure productivity is maximized and risk is minimized. But how can IT managers achieve this level of control when IT environments have become overwrought with complexity and IT requirements have expanded beyond the ability of traditional resources to support them? The answer lies in automated Change and Configuration Management (CCM) packages and certainly more than a few have become available over the past decade to fill this need.
Choosing to utilize an automated CCM solution, however, is only half the battle and, unfortunately, there is very little information available beyond marketing materials to help IT managers determine the most appropriate solution and how to best configure it for their particular environment. Included in this Advisory Note are some recommendations from EMA for choosing and implementing an automated Change and Configuration Management solution that is both efficient and cost effective.
