Handbook of Prevention and Intervention Programs for Adolescent Girls

Description: A contemporary look at the best programs and most

positive approaches that work with adolescent girls today

A unique professional reference, Handbook of Prevention and Intervention Programs for Adolescent Girls compiles the latest research, programs, and approaches that respond to the needs of today's adolescent girls. In this practical guide, editors Craig LeCroy and Joyce Mann have brought together a notable team of contributors to produce a resource with both diverse coverage and practical applications.

Each chapter in this book examines an issue affecting adolescent girls. The authors then describe specific, real-world interventions, presenting actual programs as case studies and providing a detailed look at current approaches and best practices.

The issues covered include:

-Universal prevention

-Friendships and peer relationships

-Eating disorders and obesity

-Depression in early adolescence

-HIV prevention among African American girls

-Leadership training for young Latinas

-Family treatment for adolescent girls

-Mentorship

Filled with helpful examples, Handbook of Prevention and Intervention Programs for Adolescent Girls is an indispensable, hands-on resource for practitioners and students in mental health, education, and public policy.
