Bioinformatics Algorithms: Techniques and Applications

Description: Bioinformatics Algorithms targets the future collaboration of researchers in algorithms, bioinformatics, and molecular biology. It addresses critical bioinformatics research areas of protein-protein interaction, molecular modelling in drug design and structural biology. Some of the most important topics in the field of bioinformatics are covered with selected topics that are gaining increased interest including drug design, gene finding and text mining in bioinformatics.

Each chapter begins with a self-contained introduction to a computational problem, briefly review the existing literature on the subject, describe in detail recent algorithmic and methodological developments, and conclude with brief experimental studies and a discussion of challenges that remain open. This presentation makes it easier for practitioners and researchers to seek additional material and have a better understanding of the techniques and algorithms being presented.

Authors bio:
Alexander Zelikovsky, PhD, is Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department at Georgia State University. His research focuses on discrete algorithms and their applications in bio-technology, bioinformatics, VLSI computer-aided design, and wireless networks.
