1. Gilde Buy Out Partners (since 2022: Rivean Capital)

Gilde Private Equity is an active mid-market investor with office in Brussels. The investor was founded in 1982 and has been active in various sectors since then. There are over €3 billion assets under management and the fund has invested in over 250 companies to date. Potential investment targets should be based in the DACH region, have an enterprise value of €100-250M and have growth potential and positive cash flow. Portfolio companies are for example Agilitas Group or oystershell Laboratories. A well-known former investment in Switzerland was Spandex.

Update 2022: In 2022, Gilde Buy Out Partners was renamed Rivean Capital. In February of the same year, Gilde acquired MBK Fincom. MBK is an e-commerce company in various fields such as sports, fitness and garden furniture.

2. Argos Wityu

Another important equity investor from Switzerland is the private equity group Argos Wityu. The investment firm was founded in Geneva in 1989 and today has 6 offices in Europe. It invests in majority stakes between €10-100M. Argos Wityu manages more than €1 billion. Portfolio companies include Valco Group from France and LoQu from Germany.

Update 2023: Argos Wityu continues to push its strategic field of action in the direction of sustainability and will launch an impact fund in the future - at least that is what the PE investor is currently planning. Medium-sized companies from Europe are to be supported in their ESG transformation by the provision of capital. The ambitious goal is to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of each portfolio company by at least 7.5 percent per year.

3. Partners Group AG

Another high-profile private equity investor from Switzerland is Partners Group. Since 1996, it has already made over 270 direct investments and invested over USD 75 billion. The focus is on the goods & products, life & health, services and technology sectors. Cyclical sectors are avoided; instead, more focus is placed on platform companies.

Update 2022: Partners Group responds to threatened gas supply security with a planned investment in an LNG terminal in Stade (Lower Saxony, Germany). In addition to Partners Group, other members of the consortium are Buss Group and the pipeline company Fluxys from Belgium.
