This bill sets the tone for future Defense spending in a wartime period. The $20 billion increase in supplemental spending above the President’s FY 2007 budget request marks the dire need to bring spending under control in all categories to make the best use of DoD human and technological resources. The Army is currently wrestling with future budget shortfalls, which Army officials believe can be resolved by a significant increase in spending on US ground forces between 2008 and 2013.
