The frozen food sector in South Korea demonstrated steady growth over the review period. Demand for frozen food is expected to see a 3.5% increase in volume sales and 5.5% increase in current value terms in 2003, with total sales expected to reach Won475 billion. Manufacturers have discovered that consumers are willing to pay extra for products that reduce the amount of time and effort spent on cooking. South Koreans are becoming increasingly “time poor” with people working longer hours, increasing numbers of women joining the workforce and people generally picking up on the trend for “convenient” packaged food, including frozen food.
