Fiscal 2002 was a year of significant change for Dreyer’s. On 16 June 2002, the company entered into a merger agreement with Nestlé, in which the former would be combined with Nestlé’s US frozen desserts business. Upon completion of the deal on 26 June 2003, Nestlé owned approximately 67% of the newly merged company, Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream Holdings, Inc. During the year, Dreyer’s incurred merger-related costs of US$10.6 million.
