In 2003 Snow Brand Milk Products Co has been forced to refocus its business activities principally as a butter, cheese and margarine specialist in its core Japanese market following negative consumer reaction to highly publicised food scandals in 2000 and 2002. As a consequence, the company’s previous strength in dairy food products has been broken up and transferred to joint ventures. Its Snow Brand Food Co. subsidiary was dissolved in 2002 and its milk business was spun off in 2003.
