Sustainability Drives Sales
Nestlé Sverige and the Newly Formed Coffee Company Are the Clear Hot Drinks
Hot drinks performed relatively well in 2004, with volume growth at a higher level than the annual average growth rate for the review period, and marginal current value growth. Growth was spurred by the increasing development of a café culture in Sweden, a trend that also resulted in increased sales at retail level. The trend towards increased consumption of latte, cappuccino, espresso and other more sophisticated coffee types was inspired by the popularity of coffee shops, and primarily targeted younger consumers. This helped to break the downward trend seen in hot drinks, since 1999.
