Healthy drinks increasingly popular due to health concerns and manufacturers' efforts
Health-orientated drinks have experienced vigorous growth in China, led by fruit/vegetable juice, RTD tea and bottled water. With growing consumer sophistication as well as disposable income, especially in urban areas, consumers increasingly turned to healthier drinks due to health concerns. Meanwhile, manufacturers are also driving the growth of healthy drinks from several aspects. Firstly, health-orientated drinks may be one of the unique selling points to help boost sales, as compared to standard ones. Secondly, with the rising costs of such raw materials as sugar, products with reduced sugar, for example, sugar-free RTD tea, are not only appealing to health conscious consumers but also to manufacturers that are eager to reduce costs and keep their products at a competitive price.
