Energy Security for Emerging Economies
Summary
Emerging economies quest for energy security is set to make significant impact on the global energy market. “The Energy Security of Emerging Economies” report provides an in-depth analysis of the growing role of ten major emerging countries which are not only large consumers but also are increasingly dependent on imported petroleum fuels. Growing gap between domestic production and consumption of hydrocarbon fuels has been a major concern in these economies. Alternative and renewable energy sources are yet to make any significant impact in most of these countries’ energy arena. However, in the coming years there needs to be a greater share of these sources in the electricity generation in order to meet the growing domestic demand and achieve the countries’ economic targets.
Scope
The report examines the energy security of ten top emerging economies, their energy consumption and production dynamics, potential changes in their energy sector, domestic as well as overseas dependence for energy supply apart from analyzing the countries’ energy policy.
The report covers:
- Global energy geopolitics and its impact on emerging economies.
- Various energy issues and trends in ten top emerging economies.
- Trends in conventional hydrocarbon fuels, alternative and renewable sources, and nuclear energy generation in the emerging economies.
- Detailed forecasts of consumption and production of various fuel types up to 2020.
- Energy policies and strategies of the emerging economies.
- Wind and solar energy development in emerging economies up to 2012.
- Development of refining sector up to the period of 2012.
