Translation Services Market in Lithuania
International Business Network, January 2006, Pages: 65
The interpreting and translation market in Lithuania is on the verge of significant changes. Some of the most qualified translators have already left Lithuania for Brussels, as, after joining the EU, Lithuanian will become one of official languages of the EU and many European institutions will need Lithuanian translators.
In the near future more translators will leave Lithuania, and it is estimated that around 200 translators will start working in the EU. So far, the state institutions (parliament, government, ministries) have lost the biggest number of high quality specialists, as these organizations were not able to offer salaries comparable to EU levels. Also translators working in state institutions have made use of information and contacts they have acquired while working with relevant European Union organizations.
