Breast Disease Diagnosis and Therapy Markets: Europe and Asia-Pacific
|
Description: |
The market for breast cancer detection, diagnosis, and treatment is well-developed in the U.S. and much of Europe. It has remained relatively under-developed in the Asia-Pacific region, however, although recent trends suggest that the opportunities for device manufacturers are improving, driven by the growing prevalence of breast disease in these countries.
In the U.S. and Europe, mammography is the standard of care for the early detection of breast cancer. Broader adoption is expected in the Asia-Pacific region, however, which will contribute to higher rates of detection. Outside of the U.S., the vast majority of ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems are used for general radiology and are not dedicated specifically to imaging the breast. The ability of these systems to differentiate between tissue types that cannot be distinguished by mammography should contribute to incremental sales in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. Higher rates of detection resulting from the broader adoption of imaging systems should contribute to sales of biopsy devices, which are used to confirm the presence of breast cancer.
This report covers the market for the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of breast disease in selected countries in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region through 2014, and provides an in-depth analysis of the economic and clinical factors driving sales of mammography, ultrasound, MRI and contrast-enhanced imaging products, and interventional devices. |
