TETs Maritsa Iztok 2 EAD is the largest thermal power plant in Bulgaria with eight blocks and an installed capacity of 1,450 MW. The company generates and trades in electricity and heat energy on the domestic market only. TETs Maritsa Iztok 2 is not being privatised due to the ongoing upgrade project which is expected to be completed in 2009. The company was the first thermal power plant in Bulgaria to be assigned a BB long-term corporate credit rating with a stable outlook by Standard & Poor's Ratings Services. The company has an ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems certificate valid until Oct 19, 2012 and an OHSAS 18001:2007 Safety and health management certificate valid until Oct 25, 2012.
