The next year will see significant growth in the DSL sector, as Asia and Europe push forward with new broadband infrastructures, including IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) services. Improvements in MPEG-2 compression, the introduction of MPEG-4, newer Windows Media technologies, and the prominent role of ADSL2+ and FTTP (Fiber to the Premise) technologies will driving service revenue alone to over $10.2 billion by 2007, up from $398 million in 2003.

With Asian and European regions in buildup mode, North American telecommunications and data providers are now working towards similar plans for IPTV. The new report IPTV Business Case and Global Forecast 2004 – 2007, examines the current and future global and domestic trends in the IP-based video services market.

This new report will be published in two separate volumes.

Volume I contains the new analyses and forecasts that were produced as part of this study.

Volume II will also contain still-current information from the previous report:

- Section 2: The Opportunity for IP Video
- Section 3: The IP Video Technologies Review
- Section 7: The IP Video Hospitality and MDU Market
- Appendix I: Service Provider Profiles
- Appendix II: IP Video Access Systems
- Appendix III: IP Video Set-top Boxes
- Appendix IV: IP Video Headend Systems
- Appendix V: IP Video on Demand Servers
- Appendix VI: IP Video Middleware
- Appendix VII: IP Video Content Providers
- Appendix VIII: Hospitality Service Providers

The corresponding sections in Volume I contain new and different information; however the information in Volume II is still of value. The profiles in Volume I are updates to the profiles in Volume II, where there is a profile for a single company in both volumes. Both profiles should be read for a complete view of the company’s activities in the IPTV Market.
