Multi-Parameter Patient Monitor Markets
TriMark Publications, Sep 2004, Pages: 91
The worldwide multi-parameter patient monitoring market is estimated at approximately $2 billion. Although it is a price-competitive market, primarily driven by replacement sales, the home healthcare and remote monitoring markets will grow at an accelerated rate. There has been a high level of corporate consolidation in recent years, where acquisitions are expected to continue-particularly with smaller players possessing unique technologies having appeal to the larger companies. The development of smaller, portable and lower-cost monitors will continue as well. Whats more, interoperability, networking and connectivity to other devices and information systems will continue to grow in importance and prevalence. As such, an aging population will result in an increased demand for healthcare services in general, including monitoring devices.
This report reviews the design, manufacturing and marketing of patient monitors, focusing on multi-parameter patient monitors used in critical care, peri-operative (operating room, post-anesthesia care unit, ambulatory surgery centers), emergency room and transport. There are multitudes of single parameter monitors such as blood pressure monitors, glucose meters, stand-alone pulse oximeters, end tidal carbon dioxide monitors and so forth, that are not the focus of this report. The primary objective of this analysis is to provide information on the leading manufacturers of multi-parameter patient monitors along with an overview of their product offerings and to outline trends in the patient monitoring marketplace.
