SMB technology spending is growing once again. Small and medium businesses in North America and Europe continue to prioritize IT security solutions as they also upgrade their IT systems, while SMBs in developing economies are in the process of building out their basic IT infrastructure.
This report is for the attention of Hardware and Software Manufacturers, IT and Internet Service Providers, Telecom Carriers, SMBs, Marketers and Advertisers.

The SMB IT and E-Business Spending report explores the dynamics that are driving small and medium size businesses (SMBs) around the world to increase their information and communications technology (ICT) spending by 6% to 8% in 2005.

Between 2003 and 2008, the number of small and medium size businesses (SMBs) worldwide will increase from 77.4 million to 87.0 million companies, according to AMI-Partners. Much of this growth is expected to occur in the Asia-Pacific region and Eastern Europe, where developing economies such as India, China and Russia are continuing to spur the creation of new businesses – many of which are buying PCs and servers as they build out their IT infrastructure.

In the advanced economies of North America and Western Europe, SMBs will add to IT spending growth as they continue with PC and server upgrades, while also beginning to deploy new technologies, such as IP and wireless networks, and enterprise applications.

Because SMBs still need to make considerable investments in advanced IT systems and voice-data networks, the market will continue to represent a significant opportunity for both technology vendors and IT service providers over the coming years—but there will be challenges. To sell to small businesses providers must remember 'one size does not fit all.' SMBs require solutions that are tailored to their industries or specific operational needs.
