IT and E-Business in Canada: Spending and Trends
eMarketer, Sep 2005, Pages: 14
Although Canadian companies once led the way with high rates of Internet connectivity, recently Canada's private sector fell behind in the adoption of e-business solutions. But new surveys indicate the situation may be changing—and Canadian businesses are beginning to invest in next generation IT solutions.
The IT and E-Business in Canada report focuses on e-business adoption by Canadian businesses, both large and small, because the lack of progress is endemic.
To start with, large enterprises in Canada need to do more to drive e-business adoption—not only within their organizations, but throughout their supply chains as well. In addition, small and medium businesses (SMBs) must be more proactive in developing their e-business strategies, too.
On the positive side, government continues to do an excellent job of leading by example, through its use of IT and in its efforts to encourage the adoption of e-business solutions by Canadian companies.
The most hopeful change during the past year has been that Canadian business leaders now recognize that in order for their companies to be internationally competitive they need to increase their investment in IT. However, although some Canadian businesses have stepped up investment in new technology, there is still an overabundance of caution and not enough action on the part of far too many Canadian firms.
Key questions the 'IT and E-Business in Canada' report addresses:
- How much will Canadian businesses and government spend on IT in 2005? - What are Canadian companies' IT spending priorities during the near term? - Are small and medium businesses (SMBs) beginning to adopt e-business solutions? - Are Canadian companies becoming more comfortable with IT outsourcing? - And many more…
