MVNOs: Current and Planned Wireless Subscriber Interest in Alternative Carriers
In-Stat/MDR, Jan 2006, Pages: 285
New mobile wireless service providers continue to appear in the US even as subscription levels begin to reach the saturation point. This report explores the interest by current and planned wireless subscribers (those planning to subscribe within the next year) in alternative wireless service providers or Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs).
Current subscribers are generally satisfied with their carriers, but most indicate they would be open to offerings from a variety of providers. This product, comprised of a 29-page report and presentations totaling 256-slides, is based on a survey of 1,017 subscribers. It looks at satisfaction with and anticipated intent to change providers as well as potential acceptance of alternative service providers. It examines potential acceptance for a variety of businesses and brands that might offer wireless service and explores the value of incentives as inducement to subscribe to an alternative service.
Along with basic segmentation based on age, this report includes results for the predominant ethnic groups in the US and offers data based on psychographic profiling including Sound Blasters, Sports Enthusiasts, Out-going Type As, On-the-Gos, and City Dwellers.
Companies considering initiating their own MVNO and wireless carriers who will supply MVNO networks will want to make 'MVNOs: Current and Planned Wireless Subscriber Interest in Alternative Carriers' a part of their strategic and product planning process.
