Global Mobile Market Trends to 2010
Ovum
Global mobile markets are growing at rates of up to 316% in some countries, with the highest growth expected to come from emerging markets. However, there are some exceptions, such as Western Europe, where year-on-year growth rates continue to fall.
This report uses our worldwide forecasts for total mobile connections and annual Average Revenue Per User (ARPU), analyzing its comprehensive data and uncovering the key themes and underlying trends shaping the global mobile market in 2007 and beyond.
Some key findings: - The China/India region will remain the biggest market in terms of total connections until the end of 2010. However, the region remains the lowest in terms of total annual ARPU. - India will be the fastest growing market over 2005–2010, with almost 240 million new connections. Interestingly, Vietnam and Indonesia will also be amongst the fastest growing markets, with 161% and 127% growth rates respectively. - North America will remain the largest region in terms of total annual ARPU. It is forecasted to reach $584 by the end of 2010, while across the ocean Ireland will experience the biggest decrease over the forecasted period, with ARPU dropping to $660 by the end of 2010.
Some of the features in this report include: - Figures/tables illustrating the major trends, and providing you with an easy-to-understand visual comparison of factors like global annual ARPU figures, by Voice ARPU, Data ARPU and Total ARPU. - An analysis of next-generation technologies influencing this market, such as WCDMA and EV-DO, including market share data by region.
Next-generation technologies will see stronger uptake in advanced markets by the end of 2010. In developing markets they will make far less impact, and growth will be very slow from 2005–2010 in these regions.
