Five-Year Worldwide Cellular Base Station Update, 2006?2011
In-Stat/MDR, Dec 2007, Pages: 46
This base station forecast looks at the new base station shipments, as well as the total number of base stations in operation, for WCDMA, GSM, CDMA, and TD-SCDMA. Both new and total deployed base stations are broken out by region, and this report also presents forecasts of revenue for these new base stations, by region and technology. Overall, 2007 will be an excellent year for base station shipments, due to the combined effect of large subscriber growth in the areas served by GSM base stations, as well as cellular operators, worldwide, launching new WCDMA networks. Even TD-SCDMA base stations have started to ship in China, as the country prepares to license this 3G technology, which is expected in 2008. WiMAX and femtocells may eventually have some impact on macro base station shipments, but likely not until after the five-year forecast range of this report.
