Vattenfall is a government-owned Swedish energy company that supplies electricity to customers in Europe. Vattenfall generates slightly more than 20% of the electricity that is used in the Nordic countries and has a customer base of around 950,000 customers in the Nordic countries. Vattenfall is also a major producer of heat, mainly based on biofuels, and sells district heating and thermal heat. Vattenfall generates nearly 14% of the electricity that is used in Germany and is the countrys third largest electricity generator.
