Currently in Mexico there are more than 10 million diabetics, from which only 20% is under correct control. Population growth and aging are some of the factors that keep increasing the potential for this market. Consequently increasingly more brands and products have been introduced into this market, splitting the diabetes therapy business in three segments: insulin, anti diabetes drugs and self monitoring accessories. Therefore, pharmaceutical companies face a tough competitive environment, in order to gain public and private healthcare sectors’ share.
