This report provides the history of four major pan-African companies from their inception to the recent past. Descriptions of their present operations, together with historical financial and operating statistics are reported elsewhere. The companies reported here are MTN Group and its subsidiary Investcom, Orascom, and Telkom South Africa that operates is international mobile operations through Vodacom.
