Imaging Review: Body, Bone & Breast
CME Group, May 2007
This program is designed for the radiologist in clinical practice, and is intended to provide an overview and update on clinically relevant topics in diagnostic imaging, as well as an up-to-date assessment of the clinical uses of modern imaging modalities such as CT, MR and ultrasound.

Learning Objectives
At the completion of this program, participants will be able to:
MUSCULOSKELETAL
- Explain the anatomy of the shoulder, elbow and ankle tendons and ligaments
- Recognize pathology related to shoulder instability, the rotator cuff, ankle and elbow tendons and ligaments
- Discuss the MR appearance of different types of meniscal tears and pitfalls
OB/GYN ULTRASOUND
- Discuss the common terminology and mistakes used in describing abnormalities in obstetrical and gynecologic ultrasound
- Develop a basic approach to and diagnosis for fetal syndromes and fetal skeletal abnormalities detected on obstetrical ultrasound
- View numerous examples of common pitfalls in obstetrical and gynecologic ultrasound examinations, and review terminology used in medical malpractice and case examples
BREAST IMAGING
- Discuss and utilize new and evolving adjunctive modalities in breast imaging (e.g., mammography, ultrasound, MRI) to improve breast cancer detection and diagnosis
- Recognize subtle and commonly missed imaging signs of breast cancer
- Discuss the current controversies in breast core biopsy, including significance and management of the borderline histologic lesions diagnosed at time of biopsy
INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY
- Review the indications and techniques of common interventional radiology procedures, including arterial and venous procedures
- Become familiar with the endovascular treatment of aneurysms
- Describe the role of interventional radiology in the treatment of cancer patients
THORACIC IMAGING
- Apply a practical approach to analyzing high-resolution chest CT of common infiltrative lung diseases with emphasis on decision making in diagnosis
- Describe CT assessment of the solitary pulmonary nodule and CT diagnosis of large airways disease
- Relate the CT diagnosis of pulmonary embolism and avoid common pitfalls
ABDOMINAL IMAGING
- Review common abdominal/pelvic diagnoses and learn a practical approach to analyzing CT/MR images of the abdomen and pelvis (including liver, spleen, pancreas, adrenals, kidney, and male & female pelvic masses)
- Recognize common abdominal MR artifacts and how to fix them with an emphasis on image optimization
- Review the basic principles and provide protocols for successful abdominal MR angiography and venography
Credit Designation
UCSF designates this educational activity for a maximum of 20 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

CME credit is obtained upon successful completion of a program evaluation.
A $30 processing fee must accompany the completed evaluation.
