Commenting on the report, an analyst from the team said: “The main trend witnessed by the Global Mobile Services market is the growing usage of VoLTE. The network operators are witnessing reduced revenue through voice services. However, the LTE networks are being deployed across all geographies at a rapid rate. The voice traffic is expected to be carried as data traffic through VoLTE, thereby making it another attractive revenue generator for the network operators. Hence, the network operators can focus more on the data services instead of trying to give unlimited call options to attract new customers.”
According to the report, although the market has many growth drivers, one of the main factors driving the Global Mobile Services market is the increased deployment of next-generation networks across all geographies. Mobile services require high-speed internet connection. Mobile services such as online gaming and video streaming can only function efficiently in the presence of high-speed networks.
Further, the report states that one of the major challenges is the decline in the usage of voice services and the revenue generated through them. Voice services are highly profitable to network operators and have been the major revenue generator. However, of late, the usage of voice services has been declining, especially in developed economies.
