About Hypodermic Needles

A hypodermic needle is a hollow needle commonly used with a syringe to inject substances into the body or or to extract fluids from it. A hypodermic needle is used for rapid delivery of liquids or to inject substances that cannot be ingested. Hypodermic needles are broadly classified into non-safety and safety needles based on the safety feature associated with the device. Safety needles can be further segmented into active and passive devices based upon the type of user intervention required to activate the safety mechanism. Based on the mechanism of activation, active devices can be further classified as either manual and semi-automatic devices.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the team said: “Governments worldwide have begun implementing legislation that limits the frequency of actions that often lead to a NSI. With the introduction and enforcement of such legislation, Healthcare and Pharmaceutical markets across the world are now transitioning to the mandatory use of safety needles/syringes to help protect those at risk of infection from NSIs and other unsafe injection practices. These compulsory regulations will have a huge impact and will increase the Global Hypodermic Needles market. According to various legislations, HCWs are required to implement formal written exposure control plans and actively involve frontline HCWs in the selection of safe needle devices. Legislation also requires HCWs to create and maintain sharps injury log books, or to save electronically, which contain detailed information on the type, brand, and manufacturer of devices associated with such injuries.”

According to the report, the Global Hypodermic Needles market is driven by several factors, of which the introduction and enforcement of legislations in various countries for the mandatory use of safety needles is one of the major drivers.

Further, the report states that one of the major challenges faced by the market is the difficulty in the adoption of safety mechanisms by HCWs.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
