Business Data Storage Solutions Among US Businesses
In-Stat/MDR, July 2008, Pages: 8
The author’s April Storage survey of 325 US-based business decision-makers shows that while the vast majority of respondents still primarily, physically store their data or back it up to a hard drive or separate company computer, there is usage of, and interest in, third-party-provided, managed storage services that back up customer data electronically-a.k.a. online back up. However, research shows that demand for this type of service exists, largely, among respondents from firms with 100+ employees. This report covers what US firms perceive as threats to their business data; how, where, and how often business data is backed up; and usage of, and interest in online business data back up solutions
Survey data presented in the report is segmented into the following four size of business segments that the author typically covers, and compared to weighted results from respondents from across the total US market: -Enterprise (1,000+-employee firms) -Mid-sized firms (100- to 999-employee firms) -Small business firms (5- to 99-employee firms) -SOHO firms (1- to 4-employee firms)
A wide variety of providers from general IT service providers that offer business data storage and back up solutions as part of their portfolio, to providers that focus on storage solutions, will find this report helpful.
