About Micro Servers

Micro servers are small server appliance with similar functionality as that of traditional servers. The concept of micro servers is similar to that of traditional blade servers, which essentially puts multiple servers into one physical chassis for shared power and cooling. A micro server includes in-built hardware, software, and operating system. Micro servers help to scale out the workloads of data centers. These workloads include entry dedicated hosting, serving the static web page, basic content delivery and so on. A micro server saves space, consumes less power, and is appropriate for running small tasks.

The analysts forecast the Global Micro Server market to grow at a CAGR of 37.45 percent over the period 2014-2019.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the team said: “One major trend in the market is the growing Global Data Center market. Cloud computing has a considerable effect on the growth of the Global Data Center market. Micro servers are a popular choice for data centers because they save power, cost, and space”

According to the report, the Global Micro Server market is primarily driven by the demand for power-efficient and high-density servers. Traditional servers consume more power for their operations than micro servers. Micro servers are designed to process smaller workloads that require minimal consumption of power by data centers, thereby minimizing costs.

Further, the report states that increased use of virtualized servers is one of the major challenges in the market. Virtualization does the work of micro servers by carrying out small workloads in data centers by virtualizing a large server. Virtualization has a few advantages for micro servers, challenging the growth of the Global Micro Servers market.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
